The English team lead by Cappelo, which was being marked as favorites by some of the experts were holded to a goalless draw against the low ranking team - Algeria. Algeria who are ranked #30 in World Rankings are quite happy to get one point with the game.
England now have to beat Slovenia, who are leading the group after drawing 2-2 with USA, in order to reach the round of 16.
Who would have thought that the world cup would go like this??
There are so many upsets already in the world cup starting from Spain's loss, France's loss, Germany's loss and now England's goalless draw. This world cup is giving some unexpected results and it will continue till 11th July.
The captain, Steven Gerrard, said: "We're not happy with the performance, we need more. We want to stay in this tournament until the final stages. We were not good enough to make the breakthrough in the final third. We were not aggressive enough and didn't have the cutting edge. Give [Algeria] credit but we have to look at ourselves. We've not got any excuses: we know what we have to do. We have to win the final game, which adds to the pressure, but at this level you have to handle that pressure."
