Players to watch in EPL 2010-11

Posted by vinaysachdeva23 Saturday, August 14, 2010 Bookmark and Share

The waiting is almost over now and the new Barclay's Premier League season is ready to kick off with so much excitement and thrill.
The fans are waiting for their stars to go and blast the opposition with as many goals as possible.
This season is going to be bigger and more exciting with so many stars ready to go with some of them very popular among fans and are expected to fire right from the start.
Some of those players who will be under lime light and are expected to fire this season are:
Didier Drogba:
Drogba is one of the best strikers in the world and is all set to fire again in this season. He was the golden boot winner last season and would surely be looking forward to go and fire all guns to grab the golden boot for the second consecutive time.

Fernando Torres:
After so much of drama about whether or not Torres will remain in Liverpool, he is not all set to go with Liverpool from the bottom of his heart and would love to show his talent with Joe Cole and Gerrarrd in the midfield. He is one of the best strikers in the world. Although he is not fully fit, he would surely want to recover soon and start with all guns firing at his opponents
David Silva:
David Silva, one of the new signings for Manchester City, in his first EPL season would surely looking to show some impression about his skills and talent. He is no doubt one of the best in EPL and has a target in his mind of breaking Manchester City into the top four to qualify for the champions league.
Wayne Rooney:
After a very poor world cup (which he would like to forget as soon as possible), he would be looking to regain his form back with some good strikes to the back of the goal. He is , no doubt, one of the best striking force of all time for Manchester United and would surely be looking to give some hard time for his oppositions.Last season, he was very close to the golden boot, but in the final match Didier Drogba, scoring three goals, took the golden boot and the title for Chelsea. However, he would like to start a new season leaving all hard memories of recent past and last season behind and would be looking to go bang against the opposition.
Gareth Bale:
He is one of the genuine talent in EPL with excellent ball control and pin point passing. His ability to make good run and go forward is superb. He is fast, exciting player who, on any particular day, can change the course of the game alone by his skills. I am sure, he is going to give some hard time for his oppositions.
Cesc Fabregas:
After winning the world cup, he must be on a high and would surely want to continue his dream run. He is calm and composed in the center of the midfield and ready to pass on the ball to Van Persie for doing some damage. The addition of Chamakh in his team would surely give him more opportunities to pass on the ball into the box and get some goals for the team.
Patrice Evra:
Many of you may disagree with this choice, but he is one of the best defenders in EPL. He can change the game not only by his defensive capabilities, but also by his attacking abilities. His ability to move forward is quite amazing and can prove someone too difficult to handle for the oppositions.

These are some of the playes who, on a particular day, can change the game on their own and are going to fire all cylinders on the opposition.

EPL 2010-11 League Table Prediction

The new EPL season is about to kick off with less than 10 hours to go. Everyone is excited to seee the guns fire. There were some new signings to the EPL clubs and some of the players left EPL however , this season will surely be bigger and better.
The expectations are high, the fans are waiting for that one moment when Tottenham vs Manchester City will kick off the season on 14th August.
During this summer transfer window there were some good signings to make some of the clubs more competitive while some of the players left their clubs.
Liverpool signed Joe Cole on a free transfer which will strenghten their , Arsenal signed Chamakh as their new forward who has already impressed in their freindly matches.
Manchester United have signed 17 year old Hendersen who has proved his mark with a goal in the Commumnity Shield Final against Chelsea, however Chelsea have signed a new midfielder on the name of Benayoun who can strenghten their squad and help them defend their title. The league looks quite open with so many players ready to show their skills in the 2010-11 EPL Race.
Here is my prediction how the teams will go in the Title Race this season.
1) Manchester United
2)Chelsea
3)Manchester City
4)Arsenal
5)Liverpool
6) Tottenham
7)Aston Villa
8) Everton
9) Fulham
10) Sunderland
11) Blackburn
12) Stoke City
13)Birmingham
14)Bolton
15)Wigan
16)West Ham
17)Newcastle United
18)West Bromwich Albion
19)Wolves
20)Blackpool

This season, I believe, is going to be Manchester United season with so many players ready to show their talent. Valencia, I think is their key in the right wing where they are looking to attack more. With his great positioning skills he break the right wing and with Rooney waiting in the center, They can create so many goals.
I dont think Chelsea will be able to defend their title this season because they does not have required signings during this summer transfer window, Rather they have given so many players, which makes me feel that they are not going to defend the title.
After spending so much amount of money, I think Manchester City are going to break into top 4 this time and will be making a Champions League appearance next season. Their squad looks more balanced than the last season where they were not able to break into top 4.
The teams that have their difficult time this season are going to be WBA,Wolves and Blackpool which I think will face the relegation this season, unless they perform exceptionally well.
This is how my prediction goes. I appreciate comments on this. You can comment on the prediction with your predictions just by clicking on the comments below this post.

Defending Champions Italy were holded 1-1 by New Zealand

It was a shock rather than surprise when the defending champions were holded on a 1-1 draw by the team that is playing the World Cup finals for the first time- New Zealand. And what is more surprising is that at one point of time in the game they were trailing by one goal.
The New Zealand started off with a bang with scoring a goal in the 6th minute of the game and immediately pushing the Champions, Italy, onto the back seat. Smeltz scored the goal for New Zealand and it was a real time for joy for the New Zealand supporters.
But Italians did not took much time to score their equalizer when Iaquinta scored a 29th minute penalty to make the scores level.
But after that no team were able to score a goal and the match ended in 1-1 draw. On one hand New Zealand would surely be happy after getting a point against the Defending Champions, However Italians who are known as slow starters for the world cup needs to pick up pace and find them some form as hey have somewhat similar situations as England. They have to win their next match otherwise it would be their final match of the World Cup Campaign.

Germany, who scored 4 goals against Australia in their opener could not score even once here in their second match against Serbia. They showed a real poor performance when they lost 0-1 against Serbia.
The lost must have raised many questions against their world cup Campaign but I am sure they will bounce back in their third match.
Germans who were marked as favorites for the world cup were being outplayed by Serbian team and left many questions for them to be answered.
Miroslav Klose was shown a red card after a mighty challenge by him just a minute after JOVANOVIĆ scored the only goal of the game.
The red card to Klose left Germany with 10 men surrounded all over by 11 men Serbian players. and it seemed that Serbians are playing against some college team.
The Germans were so ordinary in the game that they keep missing the chances which came to them.
They got the golden opportunity in 62nd minute when they got a penalty because of handball in the D. But Podolski could not capitalise on the opportunity given to them and STOJKOVIĆ made a superb save in the situation.
Thereafter it was all frustration by the Germans and Jubilitaion for Serbian. Their only goal proved to be a winner and left Germany with a situation not to loose their next match against Ghana with Klose being banned from the game, in order to reach knock out stages.

England holded on for a goalless draw

The English team lead by Cappelo, which was being marked as favorites by some of the experts were holded to a goalless draw against the low ranking team - Algeria. Algeria who are ranked #30 in World Rankings are quite happy to get one point with the game.
England now have to beat Slovenia, who are leading the group after drawing 2-2 with USA, in order to reach the round of 16.
Who would have thought that the world cup would go like this??
There are so many upsets already in the world cup starting from Spain's loss, France's loss, Germany's loss and now England's goalless draw. This world cup is giving some unexpected results and it will continue till 11th July.
The captain, Steven Gerrard, said: "We're not happy with the performance, we need more. We want to stay in this tournament until the final stages. We were not good enough to make the breakthrough in the final third. We were not aggressive enough and didn't have the cutting edge. Give [Algeria] credit but we have to look at ourselves. We've not got any excuses: we know what we have to do. We have to win the final game, which adds to the pressure, but at this level you have to handle that pressure."

Theo Walcott has been left out from 23 men England's squad

After a long suspense, Fabio Capello has presented his 23 men squad which surprisingly did not had Theo Walcott's name. Every World cup brings a surprise for the winger, but the difference is that in the last world cup he was surprisingly included to the squad whereas this time he has been left out of the squad.
The 22 year old, Arsenal's winger has shown that he is capable of playing on the big stage, but could not replace Gareth Barry from the squad. Barry passed the fitness test at the las minute and got the inclusion in the 23 men squad.
"I am very disappointed not to be included in the squad going out to South Africa, but completely respect Mr Capello's decision," said Walcott. "I would like to wish the team the best of luck and hope they have a really successful tournament."
Well, we also hope England to have a great World cup with such a great lineup. Here is how it looks like:

England's 23-man World Cup squad

Goalkeepers: Joe Hart, David James, Robert Green.

Defenders: Jamie Carragher, Ashley Cole, Rio Ferdinand, Glen Johnson, Ledley King, John Terry, Matthew Upson, Stephen Warnock.

Midfielders: Gareth Barry, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Aaron Lennon, James Milner, Shaun Wright-Phillips.

Forwards: Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Emile Heskey, Wayne Rooney

Ghana's world cup campaign has suffered a huge setback as their with their main force, Michael Essien has been ruled out of the World Cup. The midfielder had been suffering with a knee injury and will not be able to play and represent his nation in the Finals of World Cup.

The Ghana Football Association wishes him full recovery and a quick return to football action."

With only less than a month now for the start of yet another FIFA World Cup, the tensions are growing up as to who will be the champions in FIFA World Cup 2010. There are some real contenders along with some underdogs who will be starting from 11th June. Some of the real contenders for this year's world cup are:

BRAZIL:
The five time World Champions, Brazil looks to be the favorite in every world cup. They have a super class lineup to defeat any side in the world. The lights of Dida as the goalkeeper, Lucio at the heart of the defense and the attacking talents of Kaka, Robinho and Luis Fabiano makes them a team which can overpower any other team of the world.

ENGLAND:
England will be entering the tournaments with a goal of winning this tournament. They are a formidable side with their best midfield in the world. The lights of Gerrard, Lampard will be eying to pass on the ball to Wayne Rooney in order to get as many goals as possible. After a superb season of EPL, where Wayne Rooney missed the Golden Boot by a narrow margin, he would be eying the golden boot here in the bigger stage.

SPAIN:
Not to forget the European Champions who have been the best in the world as far as the recent results are concerned. It is said that Spain cant deliver on the big stage, but being the European, they have showed that they will give Brazil and others, a hard time to run for their money. The team lead by Cesc Fabregas in the midfield and featuring one of the best strikers in town, Fernando Torres along with the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta have few equals in midfield and Iker Casillas, a world-class goalkeeper, this team looks to be one of the best and will surely give hard times to his opponents.

ITALY:
Being the Defending Champions, we cannot neglect these Italian Guns as one of the Contenders of the world.Generally the slow starters in the game, but they are the one who try to get every mistake of the opposition count. With a World Class goalkeeper, Buffon, along with Pazzini, Pirlo and Rossi, this team has to be under watch for one of the contenders of the World. Who knows, if they can turn the table again and win their second consecutive World Cup.
